Jet Ski Storage in South Devon While You Wait for the Sun

Jet Ski Storage in South Devon While You Wait for the Sun

The season did not end the way anyone planned. The wetsuit is still damp, the forecast is doing that thing where it says drizzle every day without actually committing to a storm, and somehow the umbrella has ended up covering the jet ski rather than the person who owns it.

If that sounds familiar, here is the practical bit. When the water is no longer cooperating, the question becomes where to put everything safely until it is. Leaving a jet ski on the drive or squeezed into a garage is fine for a weekend, but for weeks at a time it is neither secure nor particularly neighbourly.

Hardstanding at Kingskerswell, Open Every Day

Our Kingskerswell site has level hardstanding specifically for jet skis, boats and trailers. It is a gated, fenced yard with CCTV, so your machine is not sitting out in the open hoping nobody notices it. The surface is solid, the access is straightforward, and the yard is open every day from 7:30am.

That last point matters more than it might seem. A good day on the water in South Devon can appear with about two hours' notice. You do not want to be ringing around trying to arrange access while the sun is already out and the tide is turning.

What About the Rest of the Kit

A jet ski rarely travels alone. There is the trailer, the wetsuit, the dry bags, the cool box, the tow rope, the pump, the spare fins and whatever else has accumulated over a season of weekends on Torbay. Container storage on the same site means all of that can live in one place rather than half in the car, half in the hall and half somewhere nobody can quite remember.

Being able to load the trailer and pick up the kit from the same spot on the same morning makes the whole thing considerably less chaotic.

Why Covered or Indoor Storage for a Jet Ski

Jet skis and trailers left outside over winter face UV fade, surface corrosion and the slow, patient work of salt air if they have been used anywhere near the coast. South Devon is beautiful but it is also genuinely salty. A cover helps, but hardstanding in a secure yard keeps the machine upright, stable and out of reach of anyone who might take an interest in it overnight.

It is also worth thinking about insurance. Some policies have conditions around where a high-value watercraft is stored when not in use. A gated, CCTV-monitored yard is a much easier answer to that question than "on the drive, mostly".

When the Sun Does Come Back

South Devon summers are not over just because September arrived in a bad mood. There are good days in October, sometimes in November, and the kind of bright cold morning in spring that makes an hour on the water genuinely worthwhile. Having the jet ski in proper storage means it is ready when the weather is, rather than needing a week of faffing before it can go back in.
