There's a particular feeling that comes with locking the caravan at the end of the season. A little wistful, genuinely relieved, and already quietly daydreaming about next year's pitch somewhere on the coast. If you know, you know.
The question then is what to do with it for the next five or six months. Leaving it on the drive is fine until it isn't: the damp creeps in, the neighbourhood changes, and somewhere around February you start wondering whether the tyres are flat. Storing it somewhere secure takes all of that off your plate.
What We Offer at SOS Storage
Our outdoor caravan pitches are level hardstanding, which matters more than it sounds. A caravan left sitting at an angle over winter puts strain on the chassis, the bodywork seals, and your peace of mind when you come to hitch it up again in spring. Level ground is a simple thing done properly.
The yard is gated and fully fenced, with CCTV running around the clock. Your caravan sits in a compound built around security, not just a field with a padlock on the gate.
It Comes Off Your Drive
This is usually the moment people feel the relief most. The drive is clear, the neighbours stop commenting, and the visual clutter of a large vehicle that isn't going anywhere for six months simply disappears. For households where space is tight or where a caravan has a habit of dominating the front of the property, that alone makes storage worthwhile.
And if you want to check on it or grab something from inside, you can. We're open seven days a week from 7:30am to 8:30pm, so popping in is genuinely easy rather than a logistical project.
When to Book for Winter Storage
South Devon caravan owners tend to wrap up the season from late October onwards, and pitches fill up faster than most people expect. If you're already thinking about it, that's a good sign you should act on it fairly soon rather than leaving it until the end of the month.
It's also worth booking a look round before you commit. Pitches vary in access and layout, and it's sensible to see where your van will actually sit. We're happy to show you around so you can leave confident it's the right fit.
Planning Next Season from a Standing Start
One of the underrated benefits of proper off-season storage is that when spring comes, you're starting from a known position. The caravan has been on level ground, under CCTV, out of the elements as much as possible, and you know exactly where it is. The first trip of next year becomes something to look forward to rather than something to stress-test first.
Outdoor pitches are currently £120 a month. If you'd like to come and have a look round, get in touch with us or call 07979 777 928 to arrange a visit.
